VICE PRESIDENT, PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT (1992 - 1994)
Directed a group of 12 product managers and coordinators. Responsible
for planning, research, development and operation of 120 tour products
worldwide. Evaluated and established corporate strategy to maintain
market niche as it related to pricing, tour design and product delivery.
Negotiated and maintained specific product group. Researched feasibility
of new products based on competitive market analysis, destination
infrastructure and profitability. Rendered financial decisions on
inventory management with a yearly passenger base of 100,000. Managed
an overall operating budget of $800,000 annually. [Served on executive
steering committee to research, evaluate and implement a company
wide data base conversion from System 36 to TECH-7.]
DIRECTOR,
TOUR OPERATIONS (1990 - 1992)
Corporate wide responsibility for directing all operational packaging
departments including tour operations, transportation, air and tour
guides. Directed four departments with an employee base of 160 people
administering staffing, wage and salary, performance appraisals
and training issues. Supervised the daily functions of the tour
operations department. Evaluated customer questionnaires to initiate
changes to improve tour products.
OPERATIONS
MANAGER (1987 - 1990)
Managed a staff of 10 coordinators responsible for reservations,
inventory, rooming lists and tour documentation. Established patterns
and dates for worldwide products. Directed the packaging of all
customized tours worldwide. Negotiated rates and processed contracts
for hotels, meals and sightseeing attractions for specific products.
Designed and implemented systems with MIS for IBM Systems 36 Tour
System.
NORTHEAST
GROUP SALES MANAGER (1985 - 1987)
Promoted and sold Collette's deluxe escorted tour packages to groups
in the state of Connecticut. Managed commission-based sales volume
in excess of $2.5 million dollars. Developed new leads working with
senior groups, corporate travel organizations, employee associations,
clubs and religious groups.
DIRECTOR
OF TOUR GUIDES, TOUR MANAGER (1980 - 1985)
Supervised a staff of 60-70 full and part time tour guides. Hired,
trained, scheduled and briefed guides on all facets of the tours.
Prepared and organized all reservations and instructions for each
tour departure. Wrote tour manuals, guide instructions and routings
for all products. On call 24-hours a day for assessing and resolving
emergency situations.
